RIM RECONDITIONING - Used steel wheels are bead-blasted to bare metal. A powder-coating of paint is applied to the wheel and cured in an oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
SHEAROGRAPHER - The casing is initially inspected on a NDT-II inspection machine and then run through the Insight 7400 Shearographer to find hidden or missed separations.
BUFFER - The old, worn tread is buffed off and the casing is trued up and prepared for the rest of the retreading process.
EXTRUDER - The extruder applies raw, heated, extruded rubber to the casing, which provides a bond for the new tread to be applied.
BUILDER - The new tread, specified by the customer, is applied to the extruded casing.
CURING CHAMBER - At the chamber area, the tire is fitted with a rubber curing envelope and sealed with a rubber arc band. It is cured in a 4150 Bandag curing chamber for 4 hours.
